In 1984 MAGNETEC GmbH was established at the headquarter in Langenselbold, approx. 30 km away from Frankfurt/Main, Germany. The company holds a worldwide leading position in the development and production of high grade tape wound ring cores made of softmagnetic alloys NANOPERM® and MAGNEPERM®. The main application areas are mains-independent (mechanical) earth leakage circuit breakers (ELCB) and the full range of power electronics/EMI.
With extensive investments in our production sites in Hungary and China in the recent years, we have build up a capacity of apprx. 25 million toroidal tape wound cores or assemblies (such as current transformers) or chokes per year.
MAGNETEC® supplies one third of the world markets demand of magnetic cores for passive ELCBs. In addition, many customers buy high performance inductive components for EMI filters or similar applications within the power electronic industry. The related spectrum of applications ranges from any kind of industrial power supplies and variable speed drives (frequency converters) to regenerative energies like solar inverters or windmill installations, latter with strong upward trend.
Following the actual trend, more and more products are made from the advanced nanocrystalline NANOPERM® material. Conventional Permalloy (Fe-Ni) is continuously decreasing - driven by the hyping raw material cost of the recent years.
